Emmanuel G. Godfrey is an ambitious Liberian international development and governance professional with a Master of Management Science in Global Affairs from Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, where he was a Schwarzman Scholar, and a First-Class Honors degree in International Business and Trade from African Leadership University. An Umholi We Africa Fellow with the African Leadership Academy, he currently serves as Technical Assistant to the Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services at Liberia’s Ministry of Education, where he supports policy and program implementation and has led Liberia’s 178th and 179th National Flag Day celebrations, while contributing to the National Students’ Symposium, National Debate Championships, Scholars Volunteer Service Program, and Students Entrepreneurship Program. His international experience includes the Rwanda Development Board and Public Affairs Africa, spanning investment, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and African development affairs. As Founder of the African Impact Institute, he has led initiatives benefiting more than 4,500 young Liberians and is passionate about governance, youth empowerment, economic transformation, sustainable development, and global cooperation.

Emmanuel Geekor Godfrey is a young Liberian international development and governance professional with experience across public policy, program design and implementation, youth development, international affairs, investment, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications. He holds a Master of Management Science in Global Affairs from Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, where he was selected as a Schwarzman Scholar, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in International Business and Trade from African Leadership University, where he graduated with First-Class Honors.

He currently serves as an Umholi We Africa Fellow with the African Leadership Academy, placed as Technical Assistant to the Assistant Minister for Student Personnel Services at Liberia’s Ministry of Education. In this capacity, he provides technical and strategic support to senior government leadership and contributes to the design, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of national programs and policy initiatives focused on students and young people. His work includes policy and program development, research, project planning, stakeholder coordination, reporting, and drafting official and strategic communications.

At the Ministry, Emmanuel has led the design and implementation of Liberia’s 178th and 179th National Flag Day celebrations, coordinating large-scale national programs involving students, schools, government ministries and agencies, security institutions, and other stakeholders. He has also supported the National Students’ Symposium and Liberian National Debate Championships, and developed program concepts including the Students Entrepreneurship Program and Scholars Volunteer Service Program. These responsibilities have provided him with practical experience in government coordination, multi-stakeholder engagement, program implementation, civic education, youth empowerment, and public-sector policy support.

His international experience includes the Rwanda Development Board, where he supported investment matchmaking, research, company classification, and data management, contributing to an integrated database of more than 1,500 companies. At Public Affairs Africa, he supported tenders, client projects, strategic communications, stakeholder engagements, and policy-related initiatives, including the 2025 Africa Political Outlook, which convened more than 500 African leaders in Belgium to discuss Africa’s political and development outlook.

Emmanuel is also the Founder and Executive Director of the African Impact Institute, where he has designed and led initiatives focused on youth entrepreneurship, employment, innovation, and inclusive economic opportunity. Through these efforts, he has led programs benefiting more than 4,500 young Liberians, secured grant funding, supported emerging entrepreneurs, and built partnerships with stakeholders working on youth and economic development.

His professional background is complemented by experience in African market development and international business, including supporting international companies with market research, strategic partnerships, vendor sourcing, and expansion into African markets. This combination of public-sector, development, investment, and private-sector experience gives him a broad understanding of the institutional and economic dimensions of development.

Emmanuel brings strong competencies in program and project management, policy and strategy research, stakeholder engagement, data and investment analysis, strategic communications, partnership development, and cross-cultural collaboration. His experience working with government institutions, international organizations, businesses, entrepreneurs, young people, and senior stakeholders has strengthened his ability to operate effectively in multicultural and complex environments.

He is particularly interested in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on inclusive economic growth, youth employment and empowerment, quality education, effective institutions, governance, sustainable development, and international cooperation. He is motivated by the opportunity to bring his skills and international perspective to the UN system while continuing to learn, grow, and contribute to programs that deliver tangible results for communities.
